The conference
The international week which began on February 23 involved official representatives from Germany, Spain, Norway, Belgium, Lithuania, and Azerbaijian, These were people who had been partners in various European projects. There were presentations for students and faculty during the week. February 27-28 was the "International Scientifical Conference - Society, Integration, Education" During those two days there were four sessions during which speakers presented their reseach findings in the areas of higher education pedagogy, school pedagogy, special pedagogy (I am beginning to see that RA has a very good program in this area. I am surprised by that.), social pedagogy and life long learning. Social gatherings in the evening and an excursion on the last day provided for a very busy week. It was interesting for me to meet the Europena visitors as well as make contacts from other institutions of higher learning in Latvia. It has resulted in many invitations but I must be careful that I don't over extend myself. As a Fulbrighter I was not officially involved as a presenter but was also introduced as a visiting American-Latvian scholar from the US. I was also interviewed by the local TV station for a feed to a national station - LTV 1. There was a nice segment about the conference and what they had edited of my interview was not too bad. Apparently it is available in the archivs of LTV 1 several days after the original broadcast. I'll pass that on if I find it.
